Be ready to replace your old favs…
By Elisabeth Obeng
We all know how hard it is to take care of natural hair, especially 4c hair. It is always shrinking up, drying out or getting tangled. So, during this cold period extra care must be taken. So in order to help out our naturalistas, we’ve put together a few natural hair products which will keep your hair healthy and looking good at the same time!
Afro Hair Solutions Deep Conditioning Bar in Sandalwood, 85g ,£8.99
We all know how essential a good conditioner is! The winter tends to mess with our natural hair leaving it dry and fragile. This is where this deep conditioner comes in handy as it is perfect for keeping moisture in your hair.
Sunny Isle Jamaican Black Castor Oil , available in local afro hair stores
You can use this by itself for hair growth, especially around the edges of your hair. But for a daily use , mix it with your other favourite oils such coconut oil, argon oil and shea butter to create your very own sealant when moisturising your hair after a wash.
Cantu Conditioning Creamy Hair Lotion, 12 FL OZ / 355 mL, Available in local afro hair stores
This can be used as a moisturiser after washing your hair to keep it soft. Make sure you don’t forgot to seal your hair after moisturising!
Lottabody Control Me Edge Gel, 63.7g, Pak Cosmetics, £2.49
Use this instead of hair gel to keep your edges laid. This avoids your edges from breaking and damaging.
Afro Hair Solutions Scalp Reviver Mask, 90g, £5.99
Itchy scalp can be a common thing, not only with natural hair. The scalp reviver mask helps by moisturising dry flaky skin which causes the itching. The peppermint also boosts blood circulation which leads to hair growth.
L’Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oils Nourishing Shampoo for Dry Hair, 400ml, £3.50
Now, I know what you may be thinking: Isn’t this for finer hair? This product actually works quite well on natural hair too! It does what a shampoo should do, leave your hair and scalp feeling clean.
So those are our top six products for this season. Are there any products which you think you would recommend to our fellow naturalistas during this season?
