There are many different things that have the ability to block our success in some way, shape or form. Some are bigger blocks than others, but irrespective of size each block has an impact. With this in mind, I want to share three ways you may be blocking your way to success. These are things I come across when speaking with potential clients and when working with clients. But, they are also things I’ve been through during my journey, and overcome.
1. Waiting until you become a so called ‘expert’. Here’s the deal, I don’t know anyone who had fully developed their craft before they decided to take the plunge and go after their dream. During my journey I have been thrown in at the deep end of so many new situations. But, I took the time to learn and master my craft within certain areas over a period of time. However, let me be clear the learning doesn’t stop. We never stop learning new and better ways to do things. An expert isn’t someone who knows it all. In fact the true definition is simply this:
“A person who is very knowledgeable about or skillful in a particular area.”

There will always be someone with more experience and who has been doing something for longer. It’s just the way life is. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have the authority to speak on the same topics. The only time when a person becomes an impostor and a fraud is when they deceive others, speak on topics they have no experience, knowledge, or know how on. For example, someone who claims to be able to help people to change their money mindset, but their finances are in a mess. Or someone who teaches wealth, but they’re not wealthy in the monetary sense.
2. Playing it small. Ever been told “you need to be realistic?” or “that’s ridiculous and is never going to work?” What complete and utter BS!!! A realistic mindset will keep a person limited in their life, business or career. The people who have been considered to have the craziest of ideas are the ones who have actually succeeded in what they set out to. Think of some of the most amazing and innovative entrepreneurs, both past and present. Christopher Gardner, Tyler Perry, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, Madam C.J. Walker, Oprah Winfrey, Lisa Price and Iman Abdulmajid. The brands they created probably wouldn’t exist today (or have existed at some point) if they decided to play it small and listened to all the naysayers.
Let me share something with you that I’ve learnt and live by. Absolutely nothing in this world is impossible to achieve unless you tell yourself it is, by allowing a selflimiting belief to form in your mind. Only you can decide what your idea will blossom into. As the saying goes no one said it would be easy. It can take years for a vision to come to full fruition, even then the work isn’t done.
3. Not investing in yourself and doing it alone. I’ve always invested in myself, but I’ve had to learn to let go and outsource
Certain things in my business to people who could do them way better than me! The wealthiest 1% of this world didn’t get to where they are without investing in their personal growth and business. Whether it’s online courses, a coach or mentor, you have to be prepared to put your money where your mouth is and invest in the vision you have in order to watch it come to life. Now there are tons of ways to invest in yourself without breaking the bank, just be open minded about it.
For the purpose of this point, I’ll give you one. Set aside a budget, how much money do you spend each month at Starbucks, Costa Coffee? Ok maybe nothing if you’re not a fan of those places. But, think of other monthly pleasures, add up how much you spend on those things each month… Now you’ve done that, the question I have for you is “are you investing that amount or more in you and your business each month?” If you answered yes, fantastic. if not I always say “if you’re not prepared to invest in you and your business, why should anyone invest in you, and your business?” OUCH!
